Sock Size Guide

Aklasu dress socks come in four sizes: S, M, L, and XL, matched to shoe size. The table below converts each sock size to US, UK, and EU shoe sizes, and the notes that follow cover length and fit.

Getting the fit right

If your shoe size falls between two sock sizes, such as UK 8½ or 10½, choose the larger sock. A dress sock should sit close at the heel and toe without pulling. Too large, and the extra fabric bunches inside the shoe; too small, and the heel sits under the foot instead of around it. Our socks are made and sized to feel like a second skin: never restricting, never loose.

Mid-calf or over the calf

Mid-calf dress socks finish partway up the calf, below its widest point. Men who wear very tapered trousers may prefer mid-calf to avoid trouser bunching around the calves.

Over-the-calf dress socks finish above the widest part of the calf, so the calf holds the sock in place and it stays up all day.

Fit by material

The cotton dress socks are knit from 100% Egyptian Mako cotton lisle on 240-needle machines, a fine gauge that sits flat inside a dress shoe. The linen socks are 90% linen and 10% nylon, knit at 176 needles, with a more open texture for summer.

Keeping the fit

Most socks stop fitting after being washed or dried too hot. Heat breaks down the elastic in the collar and can shrink natural fibre. The sock care guide covers washing, drying, and storing a pair so the size you choose stays the size you wear.
