For anyone who is building their wardrobe from scratch, we recommend that you start with foundational pieces. This applies to all your garments. Foundational means pieces that are versatile and timeless. When it comes to ties, start of of Navy Blue, Black, Grey and Burgundy colours. We would not consider bow ties as foundational pieces however, if that is a consideration for you, we recommend starting with Bat Wing style bow ties before venturing into more eccentric styles.
Tie Care Questions
Yes. We have two cardinal rules you should follow for silk ties.
1. Store your ties rolled-up and protected. The Canister that your tie shipped in duals as storage too. We do not recommend that your hang or fold your ties. Silk has 'memory' and can lead to persistent creases and wrinkles.
2. Don't leave your ties in a knot after wear. Untie your tie after every use roll it up and store it in an enclosure (safe from dust, fingers and finger nails).
3. Watch out for your nails. Poorly manicured nails can snag the fibres of your silk tie.
In general, avoid dry cleaning. Dry Cleaners are not made equal. If you want to rescue your tie from a stain, it is well worth giving the best local dry cleaner in your neighbourhood a try. As a general maintenance practice, do not dry clean.
If you must, use caution. The key things to remember are:
1. limit the heat setting (cool to medium temperature).
2. Use a soft clean cloth to cover your tie. This will shield your tie from direct heat.
3. Do not apply much pressure on the iron. Gentle pressure, temperature and multiple passes should be enough.
4. We do not recommend using the steam function.
