The Pairing
A charcoal grenadine tie with a white silk square: a charcoal tie and pocket square set in which the square stands apart from the tie in plain white rather than echoing it. Charcoal needs no colour returned to it; the white silk simply frames the face. Both are made by hand in Italy.
How to Wear It
This is the neutral for a man who finds black too severe and navy too familiar. It sits cleanly under grey and navy tailoring, carrying a grey or navy suit from the working day into the evening. Black or brown shoes, depending on the suit.
