Inspired by winter evenings and the quiet shift that follows the fading of light, the Solstice Tie reflects the depth and stillness of the colder months. Its name comes from the winter solstice, the shortest day and the longest night.

The Solstice tie began with an idea from our long time customer, Bobby Morelli. He approached us with a clear vision for a darker seasonal tie, one with weight, texture, and character suited to the colder months. We collaborated closely to refine the fabric, scale, and tone until the balance felt exactly right.

Woven from a substantial wool and silk blend, the tie carries structure without stiffness. This tie features a red contrasting tension thread. The tension thread is a loose silk thread that runs through the entirety of the tie. It allows the tie to retain its shape after each wear.

The dark blue ground is overlaid with a black glen plaid pattern, subtle at a distance and richly dimensional up close. The deep navy base and darker plaid work together to create presence without excess.

The fabric drapes naturally and forms a confident knot, particularly suited to autumn and winter tailoring. Paired with charcoal, navy, or textured flannel suiting, Solstice adds depth rather than brightness.

Ideal Width

Balanced proportions for modern business and formal looks, ensuring versatility for every wardrobe.

Wool Interlining

Natural wool interlining gives each tie a full, balanced feel. It helps your knots form perfectly, resists wrinkles throughout the day, and ensures your tie drapes with confidence every time you wear it.

Slip-Stitch

A hidden thread runs the full length of the tie, allowing it to move naturally as you wear it. This subtle detail preserves the tie’s shape, ensuring it always looks refined and aligned.

Bar Tack

A strong hand-sewn stitch at each end of the tie reinforces the slip stitch, adding durability where it matters most. This traditional detail ensures your tie keeps its form and looks impeccable wear after wear.

Self-Loop Keeper

Handstitched from the same fine silk as the tie, never a cheaper substitute. While many manufacturers cut corners here, ours ensures harmony, strength, and a polished finish that stands the test of time.

Our ties are made in Italy using the finest silk and wool, built to last in both design and construction. You’ll notice the difference the moment you wear one and so will everyone else.

If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied, our hassle-free returns ensure we’ll make things right.

Timeless craftsmanship. Effortless confidence. That’s Aklasu.

How do I know which tie size is right for me?

To keep proportions balanced, your lapel should be at least the width of your tie.

Our standard width, 3¼ inches, is ideal for most men and suits, offering timeless balance and versatility. If you’re over six feet tall, we recommend our extra-long ties, which measure 63 inches in length and 3½ inches in width.

For specific needs, we offer made-to-order sizing, typically completed within 4–6 weeks, depending on the tie.

What knot works best?

Our motto is: keep it simple. The four-in-hand knot is our go-to recommendation. It’s elegant, easy to tie, and works with every Aklasu tie. Its slightly asymmetrical shape adds character without drawing attention away from the rest of your outfit. If you want one knot that works in both professional and social settings, this is it.

We put together five core principles that you should follow so that your tie complements and never upstages you. Read our tie etiquette guide.

What should I do to take care of my tie?

You may not want to undo the perfect knot you tied this morning, but leaving the knot in a tie harms the silk fibres. Rolling your tie relaxes the creases and folds from the knot so your tie can go back to its original shape. Put your tie away at the end of the day by rolling it up to avoid creating any permanent impressions that you definitely don't want.

To roll your tie:

  1. Lay it on a flat surface.
  2. Fold it in half and tuck the tail into the keeper.
  3. Then roll it from the folded end.
  4. Place it in a canister and put it away for another day.

How do you package your ties?

Every tie arrives in the Aklasu Tie Canister™, designed to protect your tie and add a touch of refinement. The canister’s viewing window lets you see which tie is inside without removing the lid, making storage simple and presentation memorable.

It’s more than packaging. The Aklasu Tie Canister™ is meant to live in your wardrobe, keeping your ties organized, protected, and ready whenever you need them.
