Ties for a Navy Blue Suit
A navy suit narrows the question rather than opening it. Navy is dark, cool and even, so the tie has to register against it without fighting it. Three answers hold up.
Burgundy is the first. It is the one contrast that reads as considered rather than decorative, and it belongs with a navy suit in almost any room. Brown is the second, and the more interesting of the two: warm against cool, and better still when brown shoes are already in the outfit. Navy on navy is the third, and it works only when the weave is different enough to separate the tie from the jacket, which is what grenadine is for.
Beyond those three, purple and forest green are the departures worth making. Both are dark enough to behave, and both look deliberate rather than experimental.
